Sue was born on January 8, 1948, in Rogers, Arkansas, to Clare and Maxine (Key) Easley. She began her career at the telephone company, where she met and married the love of her life, David Schwendemann. After leaving the telephone company, Sue spent over 35 years at Wal-Mart Store #1 in Rogers. She was well-known as "Sue in the cash office,” where she became a beloved figure to her colleagues. Her hard work, dedication, and warm personality left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Sue never met a stranger and was kind to everyone she met.
Sue was passionate about many hobbies, including sewing, crafts, cooking, and tracing her family’s genealogy. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, including her children, Jeff and Amy, and later her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took great pride in being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Maxine Easley; her sister, Judy Harris; and her niece, Jennifer Ferguson.
She is survived by her husband, David Schwendemann; her children Jeff (Dawn) Knappenberger of Bella Vista and Amy (Derek) Hessman of Centerton; six grandchildren, Kyle (Savannah) Knappenberger, Peyton Thickston, Tiffany Knappenberger, Sarah Hessman, Carissa Hessman, and Kaden Hessman; and two great-grandchildren, Marley Godsey and Keegan Knappenberger. Sue is also survived by her sister, Jo (John) Waudby; brother-in-law, Johnny Harris; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, Arkansas. Burial will immediately follow at Bland Cemetery in Bentonville.
In celebration of Sue’s life, her family invites those attending the service to wear her favorite color, purple.
Sue will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was an incredibly strong woman who was a light and an inspiration to all who knew her.
