In loving memory of Dennis Edward Scott who passed away at the age of 80 on June 29, 2023 in Tulsa, OK after a battle with endocarditis. He was born on August 31, 1942, in Nyack, NY to Clarence and Elizabeth (Hansen) Scott.
After graduating from Nyack High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 and served 4 valiant years on the Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Independence during the Vietnam War. He was married to the love of his life, Alice Sweeney, on August 25, 1962. Last year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in the Bahamas.
Dennis pursued a career in Engineering following his honorable discharge from the military. He was a Control Systems Engineer for Bechtel Power for over 30 years, where he designed Coal Fired Power Plants that were installed around the globe. He was a brilliant man with a vast and diverse knowledge on all things technical.
Dennis had a green thumb and was always tinkering in the yard. His and Alice’s home were always surrounded by the most beautiful flowers and delicious home-grown vegetables. He loved to fish and passed his fishing passion on to his son and grandsons. Pappy / Pap, as he was known to his grandchildren, had an extensive model train collection. He spent untold hours creating elaborate train table designs to the joy and wonder of his grandchildren.
Dennis (aka Denesio Eduardo Scottoriccio) had a fantastic sense of humor, limited patience for incompetence, an undying hatred for telemarketers and most importantly, unlimited time and love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Alice Scott, who shared a lifetime of love and happiness with him, his two children Michael (Lori) Scott and Susan (Kevin Cowen) Scott, and his two grandchildren Zachary Scott (22) and Jonathon Chipman (13).
Dennis is also survived by his sisters Sharon (Robert) Scott, Linda (Gaetano) Herrera and brother Clarence (Margaret) Scott, Jr., as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Elizabeth Scott and sister Margaret Connors.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on July 29, 2023 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, Arkansas from 12:00-3:00pm. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for family, friends and loved ones to come together, share stories, and celebrate the life of Dennis Scott.
