Mary Jane Hicks, 82, of Belton, Mo., passed away at Carnegie Village, March 17, 2014. Mary Jane was born in Glens Falls, New York, on Jan. 20, 1932, to William and Delia Connors. She married Samuel A. Hicks on Aug. 20, 1955. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 2011. Mary Jane is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy and Becker Junior College, Worchester, Mass. Mary Jane and Sam were both employed by the General Electric Co., Hudson Falls, where they met at a company Clam Bake. They had two daughters, Cheryl and Lynn. The family frequently relocated due to work. Mary Jane re-entered the work force and enjoyed working for the Dean at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and then at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Aw. . . San Antonio. . .where Mary Jane became a Spurs fan! Mary Jane was preceded in death by Sam, her parents, and brother, Richard J. Connors on June 26, 1970. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Winters, Benton, Ark., and Lynn Stingo, Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Blair, Joe, Whitney, Michael, Nina and Adam. She had three great-grandchildren, Sam, Kennedy and Noah. Visitation 10 to 11 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis, Belton. Burial in the Belton Cemetery.
