Marlene was born on February 10, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio. On June 6, 1964, she married Charles "Chuck" Nelson in Dayton, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion.
A dedicated homemaker and nurturing parent, Marlene found great fulfillment in caring for others. She had a deep appreciation for reading and staying informed about current events. Her curiosity and engagement with the world around her were defining aspects of her life.
Marlene was baptized into the Holy Catholic Church as a child and later transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church. Faith played an important role throughout her life.
Marlene is survived by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Charles Nelson; their son Mark Nelson and daughter-in-law Melody Hoeing-Nelson of Greenwood, Missouri; grandchildren Jennifer Nelson-Mazyfrank, Laurie Nelson, Joshua Nelson (all of Greenwood), and Heather Nelson of St. Joseph, Missouri; as well as three great-grandsons of Greenwood. Marlene was preceded in death by her adopted daughter, Karen Nelson Cooley.
