Raised in a Baptist family, God always came first. Attending Sunday school, church services, and various church events 3 to 4 times a week was a big part of Loye’s life. After graduating from high school, her family moved to Rapid City where she attended business college. She met the love of her life Ken, and they married. She became Lutheran and together they loved the Lutheran liturgy and were members of Atonement Lutheran Church. They raised their children with the same strong faith.
One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as a Stephen Minister. It brought her great joy to share God ‘s promises to women in their time of need. What came easy for Loye was the invitation for all of their pets to join her on her lap when she came to their homes. She received countless emails and phone calls of appreciation on how she made God's presence known to them during her visits. Her love for animals was tremendous and she told many, when she was called home, Jesus would place her in charge of all the animal kingdom. How lucky they are, for she is there now and in charge.
Her husband Ken, a Vietnam War Air Force Veteran with 23 years of service, was stationed in Korea after the war and worked with the orphans while he was there. He retired with a distinguished military career as a Senior Master Sergeant. During this time Loye was a dedicated SAC wife, and while Ken was in Korea, she managed everything by herself while raising two teenagers. She was active in the PWOC and the chapel programs on all the bases they were stationed. Amarillo TX, Plattsburg NY, and Belton, MO.
Ken served 18 of his 23 years in the Strategic Air Command (SAC). As a military wife, Loye stayed home raising her children until they were in school. She then continued her education and became a dental assistant. Later, being asked to become office manager for Gary W Stewart DDS, PC dental practice in Belton. There she ran the practice and retired after 26 years.
Once she became a grandmother, the foundation of love and support she built for her family increased. Her love of God and family will continue to be present through her grandkids.
She was a woman who worshiped and loved the Lord with all of her being. She shared her faith and was one of Gods greatest servants. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will honor Loye with a small family funeral service and celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Wayside Waifs in Loye's memory.
