Louise Hicks
1934-2019
Louise Hicks, wonderful mother and florist extraordinaire, and a long-time resident of Raymore and Belton, MO, passed away on February 12th, 2019.
Louise was preceded on her journey to heaven by her husband Rayburn D. Hicks in 2009. Louise is survived by her sister, Shirley Black of Harlan, KY; her sons Charlie Hicks and his wife Linda, Ken Hicks and his wife Danette; daughter Trish Akers and her husband Dan; grandchildren Jessie Couey, Carl Hicks, Rachel Dignan, Ashley Arthur, Megan Arthur; and great grandchildren Jackson Couey and Oliver Couey.
Louise was born Lois Louise Cole in Bonny Blue, VA on October 18, 1934 to George W. Cole and Rosa Cole. Louise was truly a coal miner’s daughter, and became a world traveler as an Air Force wife. Soon after her arrival to Belton MO in 1970, she began a career as a florist at a small local flower shop and then worked many years at Klaus’s Rose Farm.
Louise was a petite woman, but a woman of incredible fortitude. She was a three-time cancer survivor; teaching our family about overcoming hardship and living a full life. She enjoyed country music shows, dinner theater, a good cup of coffee, going to casino’s and she loved a good game of Jenga.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Tuesday February 19th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Raymore, MO with visitation from 1:00-1:30 PM. The family suggests donations to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in lieu of flowers. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleygeorgebelton.com for the Hicks family.
