Larry Albert Moody passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023 at the age of 81. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was also a 60 year member of Plumbers Union Local 8.
Larry was born on March 10, 1942, in Oberlin, Ohio to the late Herbert and Vivian Moody (nee White). On November 10, 1962, he married E. Rose Moody and together they shared 60 years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Larry R. (Cheryl) Moody, sister Rita (Gerald) Board, grandkids Jamie Hess, Ryan Johnston, Daelynn Irwin, Britney Thompson, Drake Morris and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Bookout, stepson Steve Morris and sister Lois (Dick) Thomas.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, he was a baseball coach, race car driver, loved his boat, camping and enjoyed bowling. He also enjoyed working for the Kansas City Royals for many years and attended the Indianapolis 500 with family and friends for 30 years.
Visitation to honor Larry’s memory will take place on June 8, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:00pm at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO. Funeral will be held on June 9, 2023 at 1:00pm at the McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO followed by a short ceremony in the Belton Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry R. Moody, Matthew Board, Rodney Halsey, Michael Rambler, Kent Donaho and Ryan Johnston.
