Doris Fern Martin was born on January 12, 1934, in Ashland, Missouri, to Derby and Estelle (White) Martin. She graduated from Hickman High School with the class of 1951. Doris married her high school sweetheart Robert Russell Calvin on October 3, 1952 and they enjoyed 70 wonderful years together. As well as being a loving wife and mother she did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross. She would not only deliver meals but also helped her recipients with whatever needs they may have such as hair or doctor appointments. She was a member of Grace UMC. She loved watching the many birds on their lake in Lee’s Summit but especially the hummingbirds that she faithfully fed. She and Bob were avid bridge players, enjoyed holiday planning and making Christmas candy together. She always saw the humor and joy in life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
