Beverly is survived by her children Alex H. Church (spouse Diana Howlett) of Lenexa, KS, Diane K. Worrell (spouse Mark Worrell) of Leominster, MA, and Andrew D. Church (spouse Karina Church) of Belton, MO. Beverly had nine grandchildren; Alex’s children are Hannah (age 23), Nathan (age 19), and Megan (age 17); Diane’s children are Beck (age 30) and Eric (age 27); Andrew’s children are Carter (age 24), Evelyn (age 22), Jillian (age 17), and Nicholas (age 14). The last 2 years rewarded her with three great-grandchildren; Elenora and Lacey (Alex); and Beau (Andrew). She is survived by one brother, Darrell Close of Lone Jack, MO and former husband Daniel Church of Bella Vista, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Gladys Hudson Close; seven siblings; Pauline, Alice, Pat, Larry, Virginia, Frank, and Erma. She had a close sister-like relationship with her niece, Marilyn Shuey who passed away in 2023.
Beverly was born December 31,1938 in Wellsville, KS. She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1954 and graduated from Central High School in 1956. Following high school she was employed Western Electric and Hallmark Cards before obtaining licensure as a beautician. She married Daniel Church in 1963. She accompanied her husband to his duty station in Fort Sill, Lawton, OK. Beverly was a stay-at-home Mom in Raytown, MO for many years while raising her children and operating a beauty shop from her home. In August 1978 she moved to Peculiar, MO then to Belton, MO in 1985. She worked at Research Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician from 1985 - 2010. Her children remember her as supportive and devoted to their life-pursuits. She imparted to her children that anything is possible with passion and hard-work. She had an uncanny ability to read people and perceive situations. She strived to build lasting relationships filled with love, laughter, and joy.
Beverly was a skilled gardener and handy at home projects. She loved sewing and being outdoors. She adored her two cats, Puffin and Lily. By far, her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was a devout Christian. She believed that problems should be left to Jesus and accepted the Lord’s will.
A memorial service is scheduled for March 22, 2025 at McGilley and George in Belton, MO, with a reception to follow at Centerview in Raymore, MO. Her nephew, Pastor Gary Close, will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beverly’s life that created a legacy which will continue to ripple through the hearts of those who loved her. The family would like to thank the physicians, hospital staff, hospice staff throughout St. Luke’s Health System for their care and dedication.
