Alvin Leroy Ellis of Belton, Missouri went to be with our Savior on Saturday November 25th, 2023 surround by his family. He was 90 years old. Al was born February 8th, 1933 to Ermal and Lester Ellis in Maysville Missouri. He graduated Maysville High School on May 18th, 1951 and shortly after joined the Navy, serving 6 years before being honorably discharged February 3rd, 1957. He served on the USS GENERAL W. A. MANN(T-AP-112)where he served as an electrician. In October 1960, Al went to work for the United States Postal Service making $2.16 an hour. After 30 years of service, all at the Grandview Post Office, he retired on December 30th, 1989. In January of 1974 while at the Post Office, he earned a trade Certification in Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating.
Al was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Grandview, now known as Southview Christian Church. He served the Lord and the church Biblically as a deacon. He believed in serving the Lord and letting others know about salvation. In his sparetime, Al enjoyed RV camping, playingcards, and fishing with family and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and all 8 of his siblings. He is survived by his wife Vivian F. Dirkschneider(Walton) Ellis, whom he married on July 23, 1971 and had celebrated 52 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters Cheryl Fielder, Jessica Lane(Jim Witt), Shirley Wright (Gordon), his sons Steve Ellis(Wendy) and Kent Ellis (Sherry) along with 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, December 4th at Southview Christian Church, 13604 Norby Road, Grandview, Missouri 64030. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and the Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00am. Graveside service to follow at Belton Cemetery.
