In Memory of Adolfo Molinar December 8, 1925 – November 3, 2017 Adolfo Molinar, 91, passed away peacefully of natural causes at the Veterans hospital in Palo Alto, California on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. He was born on December 8th, 1925 in Terlingua, Texas. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1943 to 1966. He saw combat action in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and earned two purple hearts. After the war, he served in post-war Germany as a tank commander. He met his wife, Vera in Berlin and they were married for 63 years. He was stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War and served a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army in 1966 he worked for the County of San Mateo as a maintenance engineer. He was meant for this job as he had an excellent mechanical mind. All who knew him agreed that he could fix just about anything. When he retired from the county he spent his time authoring two books, gardening, video editing and cooking. Al made the best home-made salsa in town. Adolfo reached the rank of Master Sergeant in his long career with the Army. From childhood all he ever wanted was to join the military and serve his country. His years as a soldier were some of the happiest times of his life. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke he had something important to say. He is preceded in death by his Father, Jose Molinar and his Mother, Isabel Chavez Molinar. He is also preceded by his brothers Carlos, Manuel, Jose and his sisters Consuelo, Elisa and Esperanza. He is survived by his wife, Vera Molinar of San Mateo, California, his sons, Dennis Molinar of Elk Grove, California, Ricardo Molinar of Aptos, California, his brother, Cruz Molinar, his nephew Adrian Molinar and his niece Elda Molinar of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Shelly, Susan, Conner, Haley and two great grandchildren, Jackson and Reese. Adolfo was a very private and humble man. At his request no services will be held. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to The Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, Texas. This organization was much loved by Adolfo. Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh. — “Taps”
