My mom, Anna Louise Kudell (Mussachia), was Winnie’s sister.  While  our family did not live near Downey, where many of the family resided, we would occasionally make trips there to visit Winnie, Marguerite, the Rues, and other relatives.  Whether on these visits or on overheard conversations on the phone, I knew Winnie and my mom shared a great bond.  Hearty laughter and stories of times gone by, these revealed shared values, dreams, and their kids.   Truly, a life well lived.

Winnie's mom and my dad's (Chub Hohn) mom were sisters.
Whether on Gainford or Botany, Winnie and her family were just a bike ride away.
So many fun memories made in the early years. 
High school took us all in different directions, but memories of the Hopkins family are some of the fondest of my childhood.
Winnie, with her infectious laugh, was a frequent visitor in our home.
What a blessing to visit Winnie in March, 2023. 
Cathy, Winnie and I, sat and visited and laughed, remembering tales of years gone by. 
She was a blessing to so many!

I believe Aunt Winnie was the last of the Mussachia Family.
My mother was Katie Rue and she was Winnie's sister. They both were in frequent contact in Downey over the years.  I remember playing dolls with Cathy and we stayed with Mamaw many times together.  Mamaw and Winnie and Katie/MeMe were great examples of being a Mom and and a Grandma. I am forever grateful for their love and support of me and my kids and grandkids.  Winnie was exceptional for her long time care of her mother Mamaw. We all went to her house to visit Mamaw before she died.  Winnie was always such a friendly, supportive, positive, loving Aunt for the Rue family.  Thank you to her daughters and so sorry for your loss.  Wish I could have been there for your Mom's memorial.  She will be in my thoughts and prayers.  Love to all, Val Seymour
