Edith Wray lived a long and happy life. She passed away on April 23, 2015, at the age of 85, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ravenna, Nebraska and her early years were spent there with her parents, George and Lillian, and her siblings, Harvey and Pearl. The family moved to California when Edith was ten years old and she remained a true Californian for the rest of her life. She married Boone Wray in 1947 and they then moved to Artesia which was to be their home for the next 65 years. Together, Boone and Edith raised four daughters - Kay, Karen, Kathy and Cindy - and later welcomed new family members as the girls married and started families of their own. Family was of the utmost importance to Edith and she took great pride and joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Edith also had a 30-year career as the Administrator of the Artesia Christian Home. She was proud of her work and her association with such a fine facility and actually kept her Administrator's License current until she turned 80. She loved life and encouraged friends and family to "make a memory" each and every day. Her family does have wonderful memories of her singing and playing the guitar, attending their numerous functions throughout the years, her infectious laughter, and her amazing, delicious cooking - wonderful memories indeed. Her family - Kay & George Cottrell, Karen Wood, Kathy & Terry Kessler, Cindy Wray, along with grandchildren Kim Wood & Alfonso Rutigliano, Michelle Kessler & Jeff Pedersen, Steven & Sally Kessler, George & Genna Cottrell, Carrie Wray and great grandchildren Alana and Madeliene Pedersen and Jacob Cottrell - was blessed to have her with them for 85 years and she will never be forgotten. The love and memories she shared with her family and friends will live in their hearts forever.
