Born on November 20, 1937 in Toishan, China, Wing immigrated to Seattle in 1958. After graduating from Edison Technical School in 1960, he attended two quarters at the University of Washington before he was drafted into the Army and then honorably discharged in 1963. He then continued his college education and earned a BA/BS in Mathematics with a minor in Engineering from the University of Washington in 1969. In August of 1969, he married Diana and raised their family in South Seattle. Wing was a successful entrepreneur with his wholesale meat company, Oriental Meats, supplying goods to restaurants and vendors throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Wing spent his free time continuously learning. He enjoyed keeping up with the stock market, reading books and newspapers, and playing the Yi-wu. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and tennis and watching all kinds of sports on television.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Tong, son Richard Tong (Linda), daughter Darline Chan (John), daughter Donna Hing (Antony), sister Midge Tong, and brother-in-law Mon Jam Woo. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Casey and Nicole Chan, and Evelyn, Ryan and Katelyn Hing, 12 nieces and nephews and many extended relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Tai You Tong, and sisters Kwei Yuet Kwan and Ying Woo.
Memorial service will be held on January 14 at Sunset Hills Memorial & Funeral Home, 1215 148th Pl SE., in Bellevue at 11:00AM. Graveside service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kin On Nursing Home or Seattle Chinese Alliance Church.
