VIRGINIA C. (PESCE) FORTE

1911 - 2015

Virginia was born August 23, 1911 to Italian immigrant parents in a house on 18th and Jefferson. After living her 103 years to the full, Virginia left us peacefully on January 20, 2015 at Patriots Glen Assisted Living Residence, Bellevue, Washington. She is survived by her three children: Ronald, Virginia Rose and Rosemary Forte. Husband, Rocco, predeceased her in 1967, as did daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Ann, in 2014.

God blest us abundantly with a loving Mom and Nona. Faith, family and friends were the hallmarks of Virginia’s life. The love and care she had for others shown through her beautiful smile. In quiet, unassuming ways she put her faith in action, always putting others’ needs before her own. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion and always had time to volunteer for the church and senior organizations. All this and more in the midst of helping to build a family business, from which she retired at age 80! We are forever grateful for her humble and unselfish example.

Virginia loved the beauties of nature – Mt. Rainier, Olympic Mountains and the ocean. She enjoyed reminiscing about the past, especially the days before Seattle became a busy metropolis. She was the “original GPS”, able to give directions to any location in the area!

Daily walking for exercise was a favorite life-long activity. She was rarely seen on level streets around her Bellevue home because she insisted “the hills are better”. When at Patriots Glen using her walker, few “out-walked” her! The family is most grateful to the residents and the staff who cared for Virginia so lovingly.

Arrangements include: Visitation and Rosary, 4:00-6:00 PM, Sunday, January 25th, at Sunset Hills Chapel (1215 145th Pl SE, Bellevue; Celebration of Life, 11:00 AM, Monday, January 26th, St. Madeleine Sophie Church (4400 130th Pl SE, Bellevue) followed by a luncheon at the parish hall. Burial will be Tuesday, 2:30 PM at Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Community Services (100 23rd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144-2302).
