Shirley Rose Cotter was born and raised on Mercer Island, Washington to Sven and Beryl Hansen. She graduated from Franklin High School and went on to WSU where she joined Sigma Kappa and graduated with a Liberal Arts Degree.
She enjoyed sports, especially skiing and tennis and was an avid reader.
She loved her traveling adventures to many parts of Asia and Africa. A one of her favorite trips was to Rwanda where she went to see the mountain gorillas
Shirley married Bob Cotter in 1953 and moved to Medina Washington where they raised 3 daughters.
She went to work for Woodland Park Zoo where she as employed as Supervisor of Volunteer from 1976-1997.
Shirley is survived by daughters: Tracy Stanley, Marcy Cotter and Nancy Jaramillo, grandchildren: Jason(Nicki)Stanley, Kelsey(Zach)Aaron, and great grandchildren: Ella, Wesley and Alex.
