Mike and I were seeing each other in 1997 for a brief period. He was forever patient,kind,positive,extremely giving and compassionate....and crazy as ever! Never a dull moment! To say he was larger than life would be an understatement. We had alot of good times together, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be at that time.I've thought of Mike many times over the years. Something or someone told me to seek him out and see what was going on in his life. At this moment, today, is when I found out I will never have the chance to see him again or say goodbye.But I do feel confident that we will meet again in our next go 'round! I for one will never forget you,Michael Ogilvie,and will always be grateful for having you in my life. I thank you and will continue to miss you. My heart and prayers go out to the Ogilvie family.

We had lost contact with Mike for the last few years with the busy craziness of life.  I was online today to see if I could find him to invite hime to an open house as we have recently moved.  So sad to learn of his passing. Our deapest condolances to all the family especially Mike, Gail and Scott.  Thank you for the picture slide show.  It very much shows the unique character of Mike. It seems in these past weeks my family and I have spoken of little other than the 15 years that we lived across the street from the Ogilvie's, a blessing in our young lives!  Mike taught me how to climb a tree when I was afraid to He gave me his coat when it snowed,  and he and Scott flew  down the hill by our house, no coat, no brakes, carefree, and yelling.  Mike was like a protector to me,  and brave and free. There will never be another Mike. I think that Heaven is where the soul is free, and it knows that it's expression has no limits anymore...I think that is where Mike is.       
Please know how much you are loved Scott, Chris, Gail, and Big Mike........myself and my sisters and Mother are deeply saddened with you're loss of Mike, God be close in you're grieving.

Sadness is painful and difficult to deal with, but that heartache only arises because we have experienced something so beautiful. I know you will all keep the brilliance of Michael's spirit alive. I am so sad to hear of your loss. I hope and pray that your memories of Mike will comfort you. I remember your family as being so closely bonded and fond of each other. Ogolvie Family and friends, it was a wonderful tribute to a spirit that will not be soon forgotten.  Even though our paths have not crossed often lately, Mike was a true friend and a life force that was not easily matched.  I will try to honor his memory. MO, I am grateful we spent a few days together in the last year.  It was good fun going pistol shooting with you followed by dinner and discussions about the problems (and their solutions) of the world.  You will be missed.

I lost touch with Mike after graduation.  Yet he was one of the people I have often thought about. I'm sorry for your loss and wish that I could attend the funeral in Seattle.  I had just gotten reacquainted with Mike through Facebook -- after 34 years!  My fondest memory of Mike is from '74-'75 when he, I, Scott Keenan, and Dan Pavlik would sit against the wall in Jerry Bamburg's history class and generally goof off and laugh a lot.  Mike had sparkle and always brought a smile and a lot enthusiasm into any dynamic.  We'll miss you Mike, but will never lose the memories!

Mike was a lovely baby and grew up to be handsome man.  When Mike was born you could tell he was his parents pride and joy.
 
Most of my memories were of when Mike was younger.  But I respected that he did not like to be called "Little Mike" and made a point not to.  Mike was like a little brother to me.  Our parents had me watch Mike even though we were only 6 years difference in age.  From baby sitting, reading stories, climbing trees, putting on skits to tumbling in the front yard.  

Later, I saw Mike when he was in a U of W Husky uniform; all muscles, tan and very striking.  

When Mike was in California I wrote him to reconnect.  Then we lost track of one another again.  We reconnected again when I'd come back to WA State.  After we'd talked and I'd sent him pictures of him when he was little, he came to an Ogilvie family reunion and where we finally got together again.  That was really very special.

I talked to Mike the end of December and he sounded fine, so I too was surprised at the news.  The news tugged at my heart. 

My sincerest condolences to Mike, Gail, Scott and Chris.  Mike will always be in my heart and thoughts.

So many memories to cherish about "young Mike".  He was always smiling, always up for a good time, always loving.....intelligent and handsome to boot!
The Ogilvie and Benson families shared many boating vacations.  There was the boat stuff for the Dads, sun and punch for the Moms, and just plain mischief for the 6 kids.  And through it all we just laughed and laughed and laughed.
To Mike, Gail, Scott and Chris we send our condolences and our love.  We will deliver hugs in person when we see you at the Memorial Service.

Dear Mike, Gail, Scott, Chris and the rest of the Ogilvie family,

My deepest sympathies for the loss of your son and brother.... I am sitting here thinking of all amazing memories we shared growing up.  Our families united by proximity but also a strong bond of love...We were an active group weren't we?  Og taught me to overcome so many little fears I had as a young boy....For some reason his activity pedometer was most always "pedal to the metal"....not looking back but always looking forward.   He encouraged me to water ski at 5 years old because he did it first...He taught me at a very young age that girls were not to be feared....but to be sought after....He taught me about physics and astronomy and how a gas engine worked....He was truly one of the smartest people I ever met....He showed me how to snow ski down the hills of Banks Lake jumping like an Alpine skier into the water... Somehow, and i still have no comprehension how he did this....he got me to go rattle snake hunting at Banks Lake. (I hate snakes!) We drove the boat across the lake and climbed up into the grass about 150' from shore when I realized here I was stuck alone (as Og was already 500' ahead of me) in rattle snake territory.  I was paralyzed with fear and to this day i remember running towards the boat and diving in as I thought at any moment a snake would get me !!  Og was fearless. He encouraged me to not always follow the rules....and yes he showed me that that was not always a good strategy....  He was one of the most fun, funny and charming people who walked this planet.  He showed me amazing resilency in the face of personal tragedy...He showed me that life was worth living no matter what and he never abdicated the fact that he needed to be his strongest advocate.  I remember the wrath he put on people or organizations that had wronged him...He showed me grace (because he was bigger than me) after I pushed him suddenly into the water offf of a long dock as a 5 or 6 year old...he truly learned to swim that day.  :)
He was the leader and primary motivator of a group of us doing our "Bike hikes" as 15 yr olds...traveling 60 milesi up to Lake Cavanaugh with a large 50 pound back pack on our backs!   We tasted our first real freedom as young men together and iit was so sweet... Og, admired my sister as a young boy so somehow I found us playing house together with me as their son....He could talk you into doing most anything he wanted you to do.  He was an amazing cliff jumper at Banks lake....going off as high as 80-90'.  He was an athlete who pushed himself to try so many different sports and he never met an experience he wasnt willing to have.... He was a unique man and I have lost a brother that i will never forget....

Wow, this took me by surprise.  Like everybody on here I have fond memories of Mike and his family.  It was the first stop on my paper route and I must admit I would stay and visit with Gail, Scott, and "Little Mike" more often than not on summer days.  One of my favorite houses on my route, great family.

I recently came into contact with Scott here at Boeing where we both work, just to tag up.  This brings things home to not delay reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances because you never know when you will lose the chance to reconnect.

Condolences to all involved.  I will try and make it Saturday but may not be able to get away from work.  I will be there in spirit for the family if not physically.

I'll never forget Mike catching a racoon in his sleeping bag at conservation camp on Vashon Island...he was a big brother to me then (as always)...he'll be missed. May god keep him close and may we all continue our lives with his rememberance.

I will always remember my dear friend, Miguel, as being "bigger than life". His endurance through so many challenges in his life has been extraordinary.

To the Ogilvie family and all his friends from school we would like to extend our sympathies.  The "Og" was one of the best of friends that our Sons Jerry and Brent chose during their school years.  He was such a Charmer with Jerry & Brent's Mom, Linda. It causes great sadness to lose such a wonderful person who created joy for our entire family.  We should all be heartened by the privilege of spending a portion of our lives with a bright, cheerful person.
I have looked through the photos that we accumulated for Jerry and found one that is typical Og, in the cowboy hat with all his friends.

When we moved to Bellevue in 1966, Mike lived 3 houses away.  He was a year younger than me and we spent a lot of time together, including family vacations.  Although I lost touch with Mike when we left Bellevue, I will never forget our great times together.  He was a fun-loving guy who tried to make everyone around him happy.  I miss my friend and I wish much strength for the Ogilvie family to carry on after their loss.

The memories are far too many to list here, but they will always live with his family and friends as we continue to remember and tell stories for many years to come of the great character we affectionately called "Og".

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Gail, Mike, Scott & Chris at this time of great loss.  My memories are very fond of the entire Ogilvie clan.

I am sorry I won't be able to make it to the memorial, but wish to send my condolences to the Ogilvie family.  Mike will be sorely missed.  I just got into contact with him on Facebook, after so many years.   His messages to me always brought a smile to my face.
