We fondly remember the joy and great sense of humor of Mr. John Corso. We remember when Eileen, Janet's mom, would be staying at Bonnie's house dog sitting. John Corso would indeed watch out for her. They developed a nice friendship. John Corso nicknamed Eileen, "Mighty Mouse." We laugh as our family now often calls her "Mighty Mouse." We remember John Corso, a man of integrity, who lived a good life, and now lives a good life in the realm of eternal love and joy.

This is for John's son Robert and his family, as well as for John's longtime caretakers -- I want you to know that I was moved to tears when I learned of John's passing from his friend Loren.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

My parents, Bonnie and John Black, were John's neighbors on SE 49th street in Bellevue.  The Corsos were happy, kind, lifelong friends of my parents for half a century!  When our family first moved to Bellevue, I was commuting to the UW.   I will  never forget the afternoon when John saved my beloved 1967 Ford Mustang!   Its emergency break gave way, allowing it to roll down my parent's driveway and partly over the steep embankment that separated both sides of the street.  One wheel was suspended in the air!  I was too afraid to get in the car, but John, without hesitation, took my keys, got in the driver's seat, revved up the old Mustang's engine and somehow guided it up onto the street and out of danger.   The courage and leadership he displayed that afternoon must have been learned and honed by John's service in the Coast Guard.  

After John lost his beautiful wife Gloria, he was a steadfast friend to my Mom when she lost my Dad.  It was comforting to know he was just next door in case Mom had needed anything.  I remember the sparkle in his eyes when I'd drop by to see Mom -- John would pop out of his house and say, "Hi Suzie," just like my Dad used to say.   We have beautiful carved wooden bowls and boxes all over our house, courtesy of his John's woodworking talents.

We would be honored to make a contribution in John's name to a cause or organization he supported.  Please let us know.  We are so sorry for your loss but happy to celebrate the life of the extraordinary man that was John Corso!

I never knew Commander Corso, but the retired Coast Guard community would like to know know some details of his life and career.   Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your attention.
