A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he was born in Spokane, Washington, the oldest of three boys. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, served in the Navy Reserve and had a long and successful career in the maritime industry.
Jerry was a strong, caring and amazing father who was always there to impart knowledge and guidance whenever needed, even if we didn’t want to hear it. Family was everything to him; he was involved with his kid’s activities as they grew and kept that tradition with his grandkids, trying to be present in all their milestones.
Though retired, he was not much for sitting around. He was either planning his next adventure, on his next adventure or reconnecting with friends and family. And if he was sitting long enough it was because he had just finished golfing, or puttering around the house creating new projects, or watching the Seahawks, win or lose.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra, and his father, John, his wife Gloria and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Imi, his three children, Jerry (Tara) Wood; Gregory (Barbara) Wood; and Kimberly (Greg) Kitsinian; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Calvin, Keaton, Meagan, Alexa and Trevor; his brother Van.
A service will be held on June 6th, 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8501 SE 40th Street, Mercer Island, WA.
