Beloved husband, father, grandfather
Jim passed away peacefully on August 28th at the age of 83. He was born January 1st, 1930 in Loup City Nebraska. Jim was an Army veteran who served his country from 1951 to 1953. A long-time Bellevue resident, Jim was a fixture in the Bellevue business community; he owned and operated Pruss Union 76 from 1957 to 1991, as well as the Eastside franchise of Budget Rent a Car/Truck from 1974 to 1984.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman; he ran a small hunting club in Othello, WA for many years, was a member of Glendale Golf and Country Club in Bellevue, and devoted a lot of his time to his garden. In retirement Jim and his wife Donna enjoyed traveling together, whether it be far away places like Italy or England, or a simple weekend getaway to Ocean Shores.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years Donna, sister Evelyn Hamilton, brother Ted Pruss, children Joe (Stacey) Pruss of Redmond, WA, and Pam (Craig) Moffat of Sammamish, WA, and four grandchildren: Diana & Daniel Pruss, Michael and David Moffat, all who adored their “Poppy.”
Dad’s generous spirit touched the lives of countless family, friends, and business associates, and he will live forever in the hearts of those that cared for him.
A private memorial service will be held. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nurse Residency Program at Overlake Hospital c/o the Overlake Medical Center Foundation at 1035 116th AVE NE, Bellevue, WA 98004.
