James (Jim) Kenneth Plant, was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 24, 1954 to Ernie and Virginia Plant. Jim lost his mom at an early age and soon after Ernie, his sister, Janice, brother, Frank blended their family with that of Marjorie Van Dusen and her two children Barbara and Bob in 1962. Three years later Ernie and Marjorie moved their family to Bellevue Washington where Jim graduated from Sammamish High school. He continued his education at the University of Washington, earning himself a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. One of his first jobs was working in the produce department at Albertsons, where he worked for many years. In the early 90s Jim decided to own his own business, he purchased and ran two Sub Shops. He finished off his career working at Fred Meyer in the grocery department until his early retirement.
Jim loved to take road trips and travel across the United states in his car "Ruby," visiting family, friends and seeing all the sights of the country. He was a factual story teller and knew dates and time eras like the back of his hand. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge, adventures, and experiences with others. Jim was no doubt a meat and potatoes guy and always loved a bowl of french vanilla ice cream. He was a lover of the classics, cars, music and TV shows of the 50's, 60's and 70's were his favorites. He also enjoyed Mariners games, boating and gambling in Tahoe.
He was a kid at heart and would always rather be sitting at the kids table. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by Jan Dudey, Marjorie Plant, Barb Cortner, Bob Van Dusen and many family members and loved ones across the country. He has preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Virginia Plant; as well as his brother, Frank Plant.
