Hugh R. "Bud" BADER, Jr. Hugh R. 'Bud' Bader, Jr. passed away August 12, 2011 at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, WA. He was born September 17, 1930 the son of Hugh R. and Beatrice Bader in Wichita Kansas. Bud married his beloved wife Jan in 1952 in Oakley, Kansas and they recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Jana Bader (Ron) Jarvis, his son Brett (Marda) Bader and four grandchildren along with two sisters and several nieces and nephews. Bud was raised in New York and Michigan before the family returned to Kansas. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1951. After his discharge he attended Colorado State University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Bud had an early interest in Space and was a charter member of the American Rocket Society. After graduation he accepted an offer from the Boeing Company and moved to Seattle. His career was centered on national defense and aerospace and he worked on several landmark programs including the Space Station, Mariner/Voyager, Lunar Orbiter, Apollo and the Roland Missile.He also developed propulsion systems for the ALCM and for the B-2 Bomber. He retired from Boeing after 35 years in 1994. He was also a great outdoorsman and loved mountain climbing, hiking, camping, skiing and bird hunting. Bud was a devoted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and he served as an Elder at the Kirkland Church of Christ for more than 30 years. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, August 17th at 1:30 PM at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007. His military graveside service will take place on August 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 S.E. 240th St., Kent, WA 98042. Donations can be made in his name to the Kirkland Church of Christ, 10421 NE 140th Street, Kirkland, WA 98034 to fund evangelism efforts overseas.
