Don was born on January 6, 1937 and raised in St. Paul, MN. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. Moved to Bellevue, WA and worked as a Sales Representative for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Seattle, WA.
Don was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Issaquah, WA. Also a member of a Post Polio Syndrome Group in Kingston, WA and an active member in a 12 Step program of which he embraced as a way of life.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Inez Estlund Shafer and two brothers, Robert Shafer and Richard Shafer. Don will be missed by his wife, Betty, and his sweet pet, Kat, along with his siblings, Lois (Glenn) Rice, Mary Lou Adams, Butch (Judy) Shafer, Margie (Don) Juen, sister in law, Delores Shafer, and his many other relatives and friends.
