Born in Hartford Connecticut, April 26, 1941, the third of four siblings. Her father, Paul Swimelar accepted a position with the Seattle broadcasting company KOMO, moving his family to Ballard where April graduated in the first class of Blanchett High School. She pursued her higher education degree at the University of Washington, earning her bachelor’s degree in education in 1962. Following graduation, she began teaching elementary students in Bellevue and married her college sweetheart, Terry Lundell. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. April and Terry were blessed with two children Kristin (1966) and Brian (1967).
April was a lifelong learner, reading constantly, and taking classes on a regular basis. She was a supporter of the arts, symphony, library and American Association of University Women (AAUW). She enjoyed all opportunities to support young woman entering college and was often found critiquing applications for scholarships. She was an avid bridge player, often playing three times a week. April will live on in the hearts of her many friends and family who will miss her dearly.
April is survived by her husband Terry, son Brian, brothers Jim Swimelar (Tricia) and David Swimelar and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Kristin Carroll (Doug), sister Janis Lamborn, brother Paul Swimelar.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Sunset Hills Memorial Park and Funeral Home located at 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue, WA 98007. The funeral is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m.
