Wayne Leroy Louden, 83, of Belleville, IL passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Florence (nee Marx) Louden; granddaughters, Heather and Ashley; and sister, Margaret (in infancy). Wayne is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Judith (nee Engel) Louden; sister Sandra Louden; sons, Brian (Ann) Louden of Clifton Park, NY and Kevin (Tina) Louden of Manchester, MO; grandchildren, Joshua, Megan, Adam (Sydnee), and Travis “TJ” (Taylor); 8 great grandchildren, and Molly the beloved family dachshund.
Wayne worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, and following his retirement, for the Belle-Clair Fairgrounds for 20 years. Wayne was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ in Belleville. He honorably served in the US Air Force. Wayne was a member of many community organizations including the St. Clair County Anglers, PSOP, TOPS, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a kind and generous man who volunteered his services to support the community. Judie and Wayne travelled the country and the world extensively and shared many amazing journeys. Wayne was a collector of antiques and Stag beer items. His gentle and kind heart will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Friends may visit on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. at Christ United Church of Christ, 26 N 14th St., Belleville, IL 62220 with Pastor Jon Tinge presiding. Inurnment will take place with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at a date to be determined. Memorials are appreciated to Christ United Church of Christ.
