Walter H. Ray Jr.

Walter H. Ray, Jr., 59, of Belleville, IL passed away on May 5, 2019. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Debra (nee Bannert) Mohr Ray; children; Heather (Harley) Davis, Jonathan (Samantha) Ray, Michael Ray; step children, Terrance Mohr and William Mohr; grandchildren, Joy Davis, Cayden Ray, Aubrey Ray, and Lillie Ray; siblings, Sandy Stercks and Nicholas Ray; mother-in-law, Pauline Bannert; 2 brothers and 2 sisters; dear cousin, brother-in-law, and friend.

Walter was a faithful servant of the Lord and a retired administrator in the US Army. He truly enjoyed his military service and working for the auxiliary. He was passionate about organizing the Memorial Hospital Book Fair every year. Walter enjoyed watching sports and was an avid football fan. He was a quiet man but his dedicated service to God, family, and country spoke volumes. He will be missed.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
