He was born February 7, 1939 in Johnston City the son of Walter J. and Julia L. (nee Barron) Miller. He married Dolores Wilson.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores “Dee Dee” Miller of Collinsville; sons Walter “Skip” (Amanda) Miller of Collinsville and James (Lori) Brown of Coulterville; daughter, Michelle Miller Easterley of Decatur, AL; grandchildren, Jamie, Glenda, Kaylynn, Megan, Caleigh, Sadie, Shelby, Maddie, and Walter “Joey”; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Andy, Tracy, Dan, Kristin, and Kristopher; and his brother-in-law, John Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Mr. Miller worked for the Norfolk Southern Railway as a Switchman for 44 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the United Transportation Union.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday January 9, 2017 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home in Belleville. A private graveside service will be at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
