Thomas William Louvier, Sr., 100, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2024 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther (nee Pelate) Louvier; his wife of 53 years, Charlotte (nee Molla) Louvier; and siblings, Melvin, James, Clara, Ethel, Pearl. Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas Louvier, Jr. and Veronica Louvier both of Belleville, IL. Dear uncle and friend of many.
Thomas was a faithful member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a proud veteran serving in the US Army during WWII as a Scout. He was awarded 5 Bronze Stars for the following campaigns: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe, and also received a Good Conduct Medal. He worked hard to support his family as a chemical operator for Monsanto and Ethyl Corporation and also worked for a time for the Borden Ice Cream Company.
He was always a very active man and was a Member of the Knights of Columbus as a 3rd Degree Knight. Thomas loved cars and was a top notch mechanic and a league bowler. He even won 2 medals in the Illinois Senior Olympics for bowling.
Above all in the story of his life, he was a man of great character. Thomas had an incredible love for his family and the household was filled with love and care. He was passionate about his dogs and treated them as an important part of the family. Though his presence was very physically and mentally strong, his heart was gold and he will be missed.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home. Committal will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory.
