Thomas William Buss, 77, of Belleville, IL was born on June 17, 1947, in Belleville, IL, and passed peacefully on Thursday, September 5, 2024, surrounded by his 3 children, and his oldest granddaughter at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Amanda (Doetsch) Buss, his brother Anthony Buss, nieces Toni Lynn Buss & Chrissy Buss.
He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Sharon, nee Middendorf, whom he married on Sept 18, 1970, his children; Susie (Kenny) Meise, Tommy (Dawn) Buss, and Sarah Brand, and grandchildren he loved with his whole heart: Emma, Eden, Haleigh, Jacob, Allison, and Chelsea. And two sisters; Patricia Minemann & Jeannine Arpin.
Tom was in the first graduating class at Althoff High School, a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church, a Scout Master for St. Henry’s Boy Scout Troop 13, a dedicated father who coached Khoury League teams for both his son and daughter. He worked tirelessly for his family as a proud Union Roofer for Knipp Roofing for 30 years. He loved gardening, crappie & trout fishing, camping, watching Cubs baseball games, and was an excellent marksman and was awarded the Expert Badge M-14 Rifle, as well as the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service Medal and one Overseas Service Bar from his service to the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral Mass will start at 12:00 pm on Monday, September 9th, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, Illinois.
Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
Memorials may be made in Tom’s memory to St. Henry Catholic Church or to the charity that’s dearest to your heart.
