Robert served in the 101 First Airborne for the US Army as a helicopter mechanic. He served in the Army and served in Vietnam. Robert worked at Afton Chemical for 35 years. Robert loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid trivia player, gardener, handyman, and mechanic.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Riggle and Roseann, nee Clark, Riggle, twin infant brothers; father in law, William Steinhauer; brothers in law, Mel Steinhauer and Harlan Slone
Surviving is his loving wife, Geraldine, nee Steinhauer; sons, Spencer (Michelle) Riggle, Belleville, IL, Jeffrey (Alison) Riggle, Belleville, IL, Darren Riggle, Greenwood, IN, daughter, Yvette Altmann, California; grandchildren, Madilyn, Jadyn Riggle, and Spencer Jr., Joseph Jenkins, Jeremy Altmann, great grandchildren, Tyce Jenkins; brothers, Herschel (Barbara) Riggle, Indiana; sisters, Beverly (Bob) Vincents, Kentucky, Charlotte (Steve) Bell, Indiana, Mary (Kevin) Stokes, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends

Visitation will be held at the Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois
on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 4:00-8:00pm and again on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 9:00 – 10:00AM
Funeral Service: will be held at 10:00 AM at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 with the Reverend Jim Robinson officiating.
Interment will be held in the Valhalla Gardens of Memory.
