Mr. Helfrich served in the United States Marines. He was employed at Tracy Exports in Cahokia, Ill., as a yardman. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law. He always made time to spend with his grandchildren and his dogs. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting mushrooms, and hiking with his brother-in-laws. Michael enjoyed listening to music and playing cards.
Mr. Helfrich was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lilly Helfrich, nee Elliott; and brother, Robert Helfrich.
Surviving are his wife, Vicky Helfrich, nee McDaniel; children, Josh Helfrich, Jason Helfrich, Brittany Helfrich, Chad Herrington and friend Cassie, and Todd (Stacie Trzinski) Herrington; grandchildren, Alex Michael Helfrich, Andrew David Helfrich; Kaden Chance Herrington, and Keira Bernice Herrington; brothers and sisters, Steven (Pat Droit) Helfrich, Cindy (Mauro) Galati, David (Charlene) Helfrich, and Mari-Jo (Jimmy) Byrd; brother-in-laws, Jeff (Debbie) Haggard, and Steve (Cindy) Crowl; and many other family members and friends.
