Leona Helen Klein

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella (Junge) Kohlmeier, her husband of 39 years, Robert L. “Bozo” Klein, by brothers, Walter, Roy, Willard, Harold, Nelson, Melvin and sisters, Mildred, Lucille, Vera and JoAnn. She is further preceded in death by one great grand-daughter, Lydia.

She is survived by her children; Ronald (Janet) Klein of Smithton, Illinois, Nancy (Gary) Hoeffken of Swansea, IL, Kathy (Michael) Metcalf of St. Louis, MO, and Karen (Larry) Pirtle of Fairview Heights, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren; Samantha, Heather, Jill, Justin, Brandon, Emily, Andrew and great grandchildren, Noah, Ayden, Hannah, Miles, Benjamin, Eliza, Natalie, Grace, Samuel, Owen and Cooper; one sister, Florence Lenhardt of Waterloo, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Leona worked as a homemaker and was devoted to caring for others throughout her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and actively served with the Ladies Aid Organization. She volunteered for many years at Nice Twice Consignment Shop. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1810 McClintock Avenue, Belleville, Illinois, 62221, with an additional visitation at the church one hour prior to funeral.

Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, Illinois.
