Janice Jean Johnston, 79, of Belleville, IL passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Belleville Memorial Hospital following post-surgery complications. She was born to Ben and Marjorie Ramsey on November 8, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI.
Janice worked in configuration management at Scott Air Force Base. She was a member of the National Sewing Guild and Union United Methodist Church in Belleville. Janice enjoyed sewing, crafting and most of all, spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben Frederick Ramsey and Marjorie Bell (nee Medhurst) Ramsey; brother, James “Jimmy” Ramsey and sister, Marianne Nold.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 59 years, James Warren Johnston; sons, Ralph Johnston and Duane Johnston; daughters, Mary "Cyndy" (Greg) Wise and Peggy (Kris) Koenig; grandchildren, Daniel (Brooke) Wise, Daisy Wise, Russell Wise, Kole Koenig and Lori Koenig; great-grandchild, Annabelle Wise; brother, Mike (Pat) Ramsey; sisters, Yvonne Mann, Juanita Ramsey and Roberta “Birdie” (Rick) Brown; brother-in-law, Ed Nold; plus numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Janice was a loving woman and a friend to all; she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Per Janice’s wishes, she will be cremated then inurned at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM. A formal procession to Jefferson Barracks will commence at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home.
