James is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Aline (Winters) Carnahan, wife, Judith Ann (Revelle) Carnahan.
He is survived by son, James (Leslie) Carnahan Jr. of Granite City, Illinois; daughter, Sherry (Leroy) Huskamp of Granite City, Illinois; Stepchildren Lorenda (Troy) Triviski of Minnesota; Lisa (William Eiland) Hutchinson Belleville, Illinois; Felicia (Kevin) Colp of Granite City, Illinois; Henry (Shayna French) Paciorko of Kansas City, Missouri; and his significant other Annette Randazzo of Granite City Illinois; Grandchildren; Andrew (Whitney) Carnahan of Granite City, Illinois; Ethan (Eve) Devlin of East Alton, Illinois; Harrison Shay Barnfield of Granite City, Illinois; Jayme (Tyler) Boyer of St Jacob, Illinois; Travis James Carnahan of Granite City, Illinois; Michael (Emily Highlander) Huskamp of Granite City, Illinois; James (Bree Higgins) Huskamp of Granite City, Illinois; Adam (Angelika) Huskamp of Woodriver, Illinois; Great grandchildren Riley Carnahan, Mckenziee Boyer, Carmen Devlin, Dax Devlin, Eyla Boyer, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and all the other kids or even adults that called him Pa or Grandpa that came into his life that he adopted/cared for as one of his own. Nephews Stanley (Evie) Carnahan III of Caseyville, Illinois; Robert (Maureen) Reed of Belleville, Illinois; David Reed of Troy, Illinois; Nieces Stacey (Daniel) Moncrief of Collinsville, Illinois, and Christy (Larry) Way of Collinsville, Illinois; great nieces, and nephews; great-great nieces, and nephews; His ride around, sit on the porch and talk for hours friend, Richard Parker; Longtime friend Carl Hentz; and his beloved dog Leo “Timber”.
James was a Laborer with Riverdale Display in St Louis, Missouri, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, family, telling stories, taking rides, riding motorcycles, and working on cars.
Memorial Gathering will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 25th, 2021 at Valhalla Gaerdner-Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.
