Gilbert Garcia

Gilbert Garcia, 64, of Belleville, Illinois, passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022. Although a failing heart took him away from this world much too soon, his loving heart, cheerful smile and infectious laughter will always be remembered.

Gilbert was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 21st, 1957.

He is preceded in death by his sons Robert Garcia and Jason Sobotka, his second wife, Anita Rojas, first wife Marta Garcia, grandson Robert Garcia, Jr., his mother, María Antonia Garcia and his father, Guadalupe Garcia.

Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Bernadette Silva and her husband Salvador Silva of Belleville, Illinois, two brothers, Michael L. Garcia (partner Martha Carbajal) and Joseph K. Garcia, two sisters, Dahlia Reynoso (husband Porfilio Reynoso), Mary Ann Garcia (husband David Kolosieke). He is survived by nine grandchildren: Vanessa, Michael, Marta, Mateo, Esai, Lilliana, María,

Jazmin, Matthias, six great grandchildren and three doggies.

Gilbert resided with his daughter Bernadette’s family where he took pleasure in helping to cook and care for his beloved grandchildren. He loved people and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life especially a quiet evening at home watching movies with his grandchildren and his dogs nestled close by. He will be dearly missed.

Per Gilbert’s wishes, cremation was accorded.

A Memorial Gathering is set for Saturday, February 12th, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.
