Evelyn P. Jarvis, née Vinson, passed away May 8, 2017 on her 92nd birthday. Evelyn was born May 8, 1925 in Golconda, Illinois to Thomas and Myrtle Vinson. After she raised her six children, she was employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Illinois in the housekeeping department until her retirement.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Thompson, who passed away March 2, 1956 and her second husband, Charles Jarvis, who passed away on August 22, 2011.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her four sons and two daughters, James (Judy) Thompson, Thomas (Shirley) Thompson, Mary (David) Donley, Ronald Thompson, Nancy (Curt) Rodenmeyer and Jay (Rita) Jarvis. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Ruth (Paul) Fitzenrider and brother, Hank (Pat) Vinson.
The family is very thankful to the very caring staff at Cedarhurst Memory Center, Shiloh, Illinois and to Heartland Hospice for all they did to improve her life and make her comfortable.
Anyone wishing to leave a memorial for Evelyn, the family requests donations be made in Evelyn's name to Heartland Hospice or Cedarhurst of Shiloh Memory Center Activity Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Edward Weston officiating. Interment in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
