Ethel was a member of Signal Hill Lutheran Church, Belleville, Illinois, the Mary Martha Guild, church quilting group and the YMCA. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, baking cookies, gardening, traveling and swimming. She collected cookie cutters and thimbles. Ethel received her GED Diploma in 1979.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Lula, nee Ralphs, Kipp and a sister, Lucille Eggemeyer.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, George Henry Niklich whom she married on February 2, 1946 in Wine Hill, Illinois; children, Robert Fredrick (Alyce) Niklich, Betty Jane (Gary) Schaefer, Linda Lee Hyde and Mary Lou (Dennis) Wise; grandchildren, Todd (Kat) Schaefer, Tim Schaefer, Denise (Joe) Dupont, Derrick Yates, Travis (Renee) Niklich, Tracy (Jeremiah) Eye, Jordyn Lehr, Angel Wise, Heather Wise, Jennifer (Steven) Luna and Jessica Wise; honorary grandchildren, Heather (Wayne) Winkler, Kevin (Agetha) Hyde and Keith (Donna) Ragan; great grandchildren, Haley, Kaylee, Payton, Nina, Preston, Parker Reese, Phillips, Phinley, Dakota, Gracee, Bishop, Devan, Leigha, Kyly, and Amari; great great grandchild, Hailey.

Service: funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Signal Hill Lutheran Church, Belleville, Illinois with Rev. Jonathan A. Hemler officiating.
Interment will be held in Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Illinois.
