Emily Rose West

Emily Rose West was born April 6, 1960 to the union of Louis J. & Ethel West of Belleville, Illinois. She accepted Christ at a young age in church with her parents. In 2006 she became a LifeChanger (member) at New Life in Christ Church where she remained until her health prevented her from attending. She loved her church and her pastor.

Emily was educated in the Belleville West Township School District through high school graduation. She attended college at Southwestern Illinois College where she received her degree. She worked many jobs over the years, such as the SIU Carbondale Radio Station. At the time of her passing and for many years she worked at the University City School District in the Special Education Department.

Emily loved her students and went above and beyond for them. She was a loving and kind person who gave of her time, talent and treasure to those she cared about. She was a die-hard Cardinals Fan and loved going to the games. Her faith was very important to her and her witness as a believer was shown in her actions. She was known to approach strangers and engage them about their walk with the Lord.

Emily passed away peacefully at the age of 62 Monday, November 7th in Belleville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ethel West and her siblings Elizabeth Kay West and Paul J. West.

Emily Rose West leaves to cherish her memories her loving son Aromanze Spight of St Louis, MO and her cousins Sam Collins and Jeannie Collins Fritts both of Amarillo, TX; and a host of friends and fellow LifeChangers.

A memorial gathering for Emily will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery, New Athens, IL 62264.
