David Alton Quast, 69, of Belleville, IL passed away suddenly on August 22, 2023 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Beverly (nee Eager) Quast. Left to cherish his memory is his sons, Steven Quast of Ft. Sill, OK and Christopher (Jessica) Quast of Ontario, CA and their mother, Anabell Tavares-Suarez and grandchildren, Kansas Quast, Alex Quast, Venice Quast, and Abrie Quast.
David served in the US Army during the Cold War Era as Military Police stationed in Panama. He was a graduate of the Jungle School and learned to scuba dive there. David also loved to fish. He was proud to be in the top 1% of truck drivers in the US where he logged over 3 million miles with no major safety incidents. David was a steadfast man who wasn’t afraid to share his opinion (and it was a strong one!) With that being said, he also had a huge heart and was very generous. He was there for his family when they needed him the most. David was an avid reader who never faltered in memory even as he aged. He was garrulous and loved sharing stories with everyone. His charisma and stories will missed but never forgotten.
A memorial visitation will be held at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville, IL 62223 on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 11 am. until time of service at 1 p.m. David will be laid to rest with full military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis at 2 p.m.
