Clarence possessed a dedicated work ethic. As a young man he worked on his family farm until finding work in construction. Clarence worked on the grain barges on the Mississippi River, managed grain elevators until his retirement, and later in life drove cars for local automotive dealerships in Red Bud. He married the love of his life, Norma Bridwell, and cared for her until her passing. The two shared a passion of dancing, traveling and spending time with one another. He was an avid polka and waltz dancer, woodworker, and enjoyed shopping at flea markers. Clarence was also a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau. He proudly served his country during World War II in the 12th Calvary Division stationed in Japan. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Foppe (nee Bridwell), his parents: Fred and Anna (nee Beckmann) Foppe, his siblings: Lucille Spihlmann, Cyril Foppe, Herbert Foppe, and infant sister Viola Foppe.
Clarence is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Phyllis and Jim Beran.
