Bernice Helen (Orr) Torisky

Bernice Helen Torisky, 96, of Millstadt, IL, passed away in her home on Wednesday, December 27, 2018. Bernice (nee Orr) was born August 17, 1922 in St. Louis, MO and married Peter Torisky on April 23, 1942 and together they had two children.

Bernice quietly lived her whole life dedicated to helping and serving others. She served as a caregiver for several family members, a devoted wife and mother, and loving grandmother. She loved to spend her time quilting baby blankets for the hospital, square dancing at the senior center, walking to daily mass and watching old movies on cable. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Glenn Orr and Caroline Orr (Zeiss), her husband Peter Torisky, and brothers Henry Orr and Glenn Orr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Rosemary Fourson and John (Patricia) Torisky; brother Robert (Leona) Orr; and grandchildren Scott (Anne) Loeffler, Krystal (Micheal) Nodland, Melodie (Jan) van der Baan, John (Leah) Torisky, Lynn (Matt) Imgrund, Kelly (Brian) Cromeens and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the parish center at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt IL from 9-10:30 am on Monday, December 31, 2018. Mass will begin at 10:30 am and be followed by a luncheon for family and friends.
