Austin loved being a long-haul truck driver which allowed him to travel and admire beautiful scenery. He was passionate about music, football (the Green Bay Packers were his favorite team), playing Xbox, basketball and above all else, spending time with his friends and family. Austin was well known for his sense of humor, his contagious smile and his genuine, carefree attitude.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Mezo; grandparents, Don and Rose Roethe and Connie Richardson.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his mother, Stacy (nee Roethe) Carlile; stepfather, Robert Carlile; sisters, Abbi Gale Mezo and Aurora Carlile; aunts and uncles, Brenda “Boo” (Mike) Hoff, Tammy (Wayne) Prater, Billy (Kelly) Carlile, Rick (Tammy Willhoite) Roethe, Teresa Roethe, Mike Edge, Jason Roethe and Kristel (Phillip) Matoesian; grandparents, Bill and Sue Carlile; plus countless friends and extended family. Austin will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Terry Haynes.
Austin will be laid to rest at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
