William Norman Thomas, age 85, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on August 13, 2024. William was born on October 6, 1938, in Lockney, Texas, to Ernest Lee Thomas and Minnie Fay (Evans) and grew up on a family farm outside Floydada, Texas.
In 1964, after graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in accounting, William and his wife, Mary (Chancellor) Thomas, moved to Houston, where he successfully pursued a career as a Certified Public Accountant. William began his career with Arthur Andersen and later joined Harrison, Norwood & Company, where he subsequently became a partner. William took great pride in his work, representing a wide assortment of entrepreneurs and professionals. In 2006, William sold his stake in the firm and retired, and by 2016, he stopped answering all accounting questions pleasantly stating, “I’m retired and expired!”
William leaves behind Mary, his wife of 62 years, and their children, a daughter, Shelly, and a son, Blake; his brother Keith Thomas and his wife, Lodema; a nephew, Bryan Thomas, and Bryan’s two sons; and a large contingency of cousins and their children.
