Theresa (Tracy) Pesl Plunkett passed into her heavenly Fathers arms on March 1, 2022 in Houston. She was born on January 25, 1927 in Waelder, Texas to the late Anton and Lillie Hlozek Pesl. As a young girl she attended schools in Colorado county, and graduated from the University of Texas in 1948 with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Upon graduation she worked in Houston for Anderson Clayton and the diocese of Galveston-Houston. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to work for the new diocese in Tulsa. While in Tulsa, Tracy married her longtime beau, Charles Plunkett in 1975, and they returned to Houston where she worked for Harris County Courts until she retired in 1992.
As a longtime parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a devout Roman Catholic all of her life, she attended daily Mass. She and Charles traveled to many Holy Shrines in Lourdes, Fatima, Mexico, the Holy Land and other countries. One of her fondest memories was greeting Mother Teresa in Houston.
Throughout her life, Tracy was devoted to serving others especially the most vulnerable. She spent countless years working with Houston’s homeless at the Magnificat House and helped many women through the Santa Maria Hostel. She was active in many organizations including the Legion of Mary and the 3rd Order of Carmelites. Along with her husband, Charles, she fought tirelessly for the unborn babies through Pro Life organizations, and was passionately devoted to Saint Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity. She became a media missionary for EWTN to evangelize. Many benefited from her kindness.
Tracy is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents Anton and Lillie Pesl, three infant brothers, Anthony, Francis, and Joseph, her brother Anthony and his wife Joyce Kahlden Pesl, and brother-in-law John Anders. Nephew Tommy Pesl, nieces Valerie, Julie, and Pam Pesl along with grandnephew Henry Anders, whom she shared a special kinship, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister Adelle Pesl Anders and brothers George and wife Mildred Kloesel Pesl, Jodie and wife Johanna Neiser Pesl, Rudy and wife Sylvia Budge Pesl. Aunt Tracy as she was called, will be missed greatly by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9am with praying the Rosary at 9:30am. Rite of Committal will be in Saints Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Cistern, Texas at 3pm.
