Susan was born, baptized, confirmed and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin where she attended St Pius X Catholic Church & School. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1971 and completed a BS in Chemistry at St. Norbert’s College in 1975. Many years later in 2018, Susan was able to share a tour of the beautiful St. Norbert campus with her daughter Kristin finishing with a shopping trip to the on-campus store for a commemorative “St. Norbert Green Knights” t-shirt.
Susan worked in the Chicago area as a Chemist before moving to Houston in 1982 and joining Stuart/Zeneca/AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals in 1985 as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. By wielding both her innate ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone (just like her father before her) and mainlining a constant supply of delicious cookies and pastries from Moeller’s Bakery directly to the Houston Medical Center Susan was an unstoppable Force-of-Pharma and became a top producer over her 15-year career.
Susan’s real passion in life was her role as a loving and devoted mother to her daughters. Throughout their time growing up, she was always fiercely dedicated to finding “the best” of everything for her daughters in every arena of their lives. One of the countless examples of this was the many years Susan spent driving them 45 minutes each way to “the best orthodontist” in the state of Texas. Susan also spent much of her time volunteering (and in her later years substitute teaching) in both Kristin and Jessica’s classrooms or running school events, like Breakfast with Santa or Scarborough Fair at St Mark’s Episcopal School. Here again, Susan employed the help of her lifelong friend, the General Manager of Moeller’s Bakery, to sweeten any occasion in Kristin and Jessica’s lives. Her legacy of love for her children, as well as her niece and nephews will live on as they all embark on the journey of parenthood themselves over the coming years.
Following Scott’s retirement in 2017, Scott and Susan spent time almost every month over the next 4 years traveling somewhere across the US to visit with family & friends, and made frequent visits to her “heaven on earth,” the Allegria Spa at Beaver Creek, Colorado.
