Susan Murphy Fischer, 68 passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, September 4, 2017 after a battle with cancer. Susan was born on October 21, 1948 in Robinson, Illinois to Pat and Francis Murphy. Susan graduated from Robinson High School and graduated from Eastern Illinois University. Susan worked for Sun Oil Company and then moved to Houston with her son James to work at Cities Service Oil Company. Susan met her husband, Brian at a Houston Astros game and they were married on May 22, 1981. When her son Brandon was born, Susan retired from Cities Service and became a Domestic Goddess and raised her children. Susan and Brian were married 36 years in May of this year. Susan was a Past President of the St. Gerard’s Guild at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Past President of the Teresian Women’s Club and a volunteer at the Charity Guild of Catholic Women. She was also an avid reader and a member of 2 book clubs here in Houston. Susan’s Father, Clarence Leon Murphy and Sara Frances Murphy predeceased her. Susan is survived by her husband, Brian, her son James Shuff and his wife Lindsay and her 2 grandchildren, Owen Shuff and Caleb Shuff, her son Brandon Fischer, and her daughter Courtney Fischer-Brown and her husband, Jason Brown. She is also survived by her brother, David Murphy and his wife Linda, her sisters, Sharon Tobaison and Patricia Murphy.
The viewing will be at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnett, Bellaire, Texas 77401 on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.. A Memorial Mass will be held on September 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Chapel, 1714 Rice Blvd., Houston, Texas 77005. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to one of Susan’s favorite charities: Saint Mary’s Catholic Chapel or the Charity Guild of Catholic Women.
