Sister Perpetua Daly, CCVI, a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, has been called from this life on earth on September 6, 2023 at St. Anne Convent. She now enjoys the fullness of Eternal Life with God.
Sister Perpetua was born in 1932 to Cornelius and Ellen (Doherty) Daly of Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland, and named Elizabeth Daly. On August 25, 1947, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, Houston, at St. Michael’s Convent, Co. Clare, Ireland. Sister consecrated her life to God through Profession of Perpetual Vows on December 8, 1955, at Villa de Matel, Houston.
Sister’s academic preparation began at St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Galveston, TX where she trained professionally as a nurse. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Dominican College, Houston, TX. During the course of her life, Sister ministered as a nurse at many hospitals and nursing homes including: St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA; St. Joseph Hospital, Houston, TX; St. Mary’s Hospital, Galveston, TX; St. Mary Hospital, Port Arthur, TX; Regis/St. Elizabeth, Waco, TX; St. Anthony Center, Houston, TX; and St. Joseph Villa, Salt Lake City, Utah. In later years, Sister Perpetua served in pastoral care ministry. After many years of service, Sister dedicated her life to prayer at Villa de Matel. It can be truly said of her that she embodied the love of the Incarnate Word to those she encountered.
Sr. Perpetua is survived by her brother, John Daly of Yonkers, New York and his wife, Mary, her brother Daniel Daly of Co. Kerry, Ireland, her two sisters Carmel Daly Griffin and Mary Daly O’Donoghue of Co. Kerry, Ireland, and many nieces and nephews.

Sister Perpetua’s body will be received at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Villa de Matel, 6510 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas at 5:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023, followed by Evening Praise and a celebration of her life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. A Rite of Committal will follow at Villa de Matel Cemetery.
