Shannon spent much of her childhood through her early adult years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Dallas, Texas, and would always see herself as a Texas girl. It was the love and influence of several key family members that would shape Shannon into the woman she would become. She truly loved and cherished her relationship with each one of them. Her competitive and never-quit spirit, and her love of life and adventure were the foundations of her life.
If you knew Shannon, then you know that she was the type of person who never met a stranger. To her, it didn’t matter who you were, she treated everyone with respect, empathy, and love.
You also would know that the most important thing in her life was family. And for Shannon, the family was much more than blood relatives. If you were part of her life, you were family. She strived to build relationships with everyone.
For a number of years, it was just Shannon and her son, Evert. But eventually, she met the man who would be her best friend and love of her life, Charles. They were married in Las Vegas on May 5, 2007, and even though they only had 18 years together - - they lived a lifetime of adventure and love. Their marriage was the envy of so many other couples.
How can we sum up a life like Shannon’s in a limited space? We could list all the things she loved to do, the music she loved to listen to, or the travels that she experienced. But she was so much more than these things. She was more than any of her accomplishments or anything she could put on a resume. At the end of the day, if you knew Shannon you were among the fortunate and if you didn’t, you missed out on one of the most amazing human beings that walked this earth.
She will be missed by so many people. But we find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those who have gone before and resting peacefully in the arms of God.
She is preceded in death by her mother Gina Cripps and her sister Michelle Vigil.
