ROBERT H. J. OSBORN III, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born September 24, 1933 in Houston, Texas to Robert H. J. Osborn, Jr. and Irene Marie Osborn. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Loraine Davenport of Atlanta, Georgia.
Bob graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture Economics from the University of Houston in 1957, and was president of Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He was active in campus politics and the Interfraternity Council. He served in Active Air Force in France in 1961-1962. During college, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Exxon Oil Company. Bob worked in sales with Wyeth (American Home Products) for 35 years.
Bob was very active at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Streamliners, nocturnal adoration, the food bank, counting collections, and as an usher. He was also active in Knights of Columbus, Serra Club, L’Entasar and on the Volunteer Board for Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he had been a volunteer for 11 years. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, vegetable gardening, hunting, and working in his yard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ann; son, John W. Osborn, wife Michele and their three children Lauren, Ashley, and Michael; son, Robert Scott Osborn, his wife Juli and their three children, Ryan, Brent and Jennifer; son, Dr. Ronald B. Osborn, his wife Anna, their two sons Hunter and Hayden; sister, Mary Martha Black of Austin, Texas; brothers-in-law, Louis Macey and his wife Mary Ann, and Abe Abdella and his wife Connie; sister-in-law , Nancy Joseph and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010, with a viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St. A reception will be held immediately after the mass in Servant Hall. Rite of Committal will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway.
