Rives Joseph Benoit Jr.

Rives Joseph (RJ) Benoit, Jr went to Heaven on Sunday, November 20th, 2022 at the age of 75. RJ passed peacefully with his family present. RJ was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana where he spent most of his life. The last 15 years he lived in Houston, Texas to be close to his son and daughter. RJ is preceded in death by his parents, Rivers Benoit, Sr and Julia Lirette Benoit; his siblings, Ethel Benoit Allemand, Lawrence Benoit, Marie Benoit Leonard, and Virgie Benoit Gros. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Degruise Benoit, his daughter, Cherie Benoit Schoppa and son, Brian Benoit. RJ’s pride and joy were his four beautiful grandchildren, Emma Schoppa, Ana Benoit, Adam Schoppa, and Ellie Benoit. RJ is survived by two siblings, Betty Benoit Webre and Judy Benoit Robinson.

RJ graduated from Thibodaux High School, served in the United States Army, worked and retired from Dow Chemical. RJ had a passion for cars, fishing, reading, football, grilling, and spending time with family and friends. RJ loved his country and the people in it. He had conversations with everyone he came into contact with and will be remembered as a superb husband, father, grandfather (Pa), and an overall great guy!

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 at 11:00 in Thibodaux, LA.
